Mission accomplished!

30th October 2009

After months of training and personal dedication, we are delighted to report that Vanessa completed the Great South Run, 10 miles in just 2 hours, 4 minutes and 45 seconds, running non-stop all the way.

Vanessa took on this challenge with others in local networking group The Carrington Club, running in support of The Wessex Autistic Society charity. Gloriously all Team Carrington Club successfully completed the run.
Vanessa added ‘During training I had only ran a maximum of 5 to 6 miles which gave rise to concerns of whether I could actually maintain momentum to run continuously to the end of the full 10 mile route.  As people had been telling me, it was an amazing experience, not only because of the number of people running but also because of the number of spectators along the way.  They provided much useful distraction and encouragement when the going got tough. So a real added personal achievement for me is that I ran non-stop all the way.’
Friends, family and colleagues have already donated £405.00 leaving just a few pounds short of Vanessa’s £500 target. Donations are still being accepted through www.justgiving.com/vanessa, any amount, however small would be gratefully appreciated. The photo below shows Vanessa with other runners who supported The Wessex Autistic Society happily grasping their winner medals.
